Reverse phone lookups, also referred to as a reverse telephone directory, are a matching of telephone numbers with their corresponding names and addresses. This is the opposite of the usual telephone directories. Here, the name and address is found through the telephone number of the person, as against the usual method of the number being retrieved via the name of the person. This directory is generally sometimes made available to the public and is used by law enforcement and other emergency services. The public may access the information online on websites that are usually maintained by private companies who collect the information from publicly available directories and then convert it into a reverse telephone directory.
