Cellular phone service provider manage their own customer files. They do not make a public list as most regular phone companies do. While you can find phone numbers for businesses and individuals in your local telephone book, there is no way to find a cell number unless the owner of the phone does something to make their number public or you are willing to pay for it. There are some pay sites that will allow you to look up cell numbers. Most of these sites pay a fee to cell phone providers to be able to access their database. To combat this, a relatively new type of website is starting to appear on the internet.
National Cellular Directory is one such site. Their requirement to do a cell phone lookup is that you enter your own cell phone number and information. Once you have entered this information, you are registered and can do as many cell number lookups as you like. Another site that allows you to register your cell number and search for other numbers and information is Wyty. Both of these sites state their mission is to make certain that you have control of where your information goes. Once you register your number, you are not a permanent file. Most of their listings expire after a certain amount of time and must be renewed. You also have the option of taking your name and number out of their system. There are a number of other sites of the same nature and a basic search will find them.
Many people are concerned about their privacy and who might get a hold of their numbers and addresses. Cell phone numbers can be registered at www.donotcall.gov to help keep them out of the hands of telemarketers. Most of these sites also claim not to sell your information to third parties. If a telemarketer does use your number after you register it on the do not call list, you may file a complaint at the site. The important thing to remember about the above sites is that you must register your cell phone number to be found by searchers.
